• The mission of the CCHC Foundation is to serve those who have been touched by cancer by providing support and resources that focus on the whole person: mind, body and spirit.

 

There are a variety of programs available through the CCHC Foundation that will benefit patients and their families as they deal with the effects of chronic illness and its treatment. Our programs and highlights include:

  • CCHC Foundation educated more than 1,000 students about the harmful effects of smoking last year during the 2018-2019 academic school year in Craven County Schools.
  • CCHC Foundation recently received a $1400 grant from Weyerhaeuser to create a new information brochure about the harmful effects of vaping for Craven County Schools.
  • Financial counseling and support*: We provide gas cards, grocery cards,  assistance with medications (work with local pharmacy), medical supplies (lymphedema sleeves, breast prostheses, wheel chairs, walkers, etc), nutritional supplements, grocery cards, etc. *Available for patients who meet financial criteria.
  • Transportation assistance: We provide gas cards to assist patients with the additional costs of getting to and from appointments.
  • Prostate Cancer Support Group of Craven County: Support group that meets the 2nd Thursday of each month at 9:00am at the Golden Corral in New Bern. Please contact Bill Marotti for more information at 252-514-9833
  • Educational programs and cancer prevention programs.
  • *Therapeutic massage: We work with local massage therapist to provide much needed massages for patients and caregivers.
  • *Art therapy: formal program run by a certified art therapist. Foundation to pay per session, program will be free for patients and caregivers.
  • Head coverings: provide wigs, scarves, hats for patients. Setting up a wig room.
  • Survivorship Program / Cancer Transitions: supporting patients after completing active treatment.
  • Chemo Care kits: We provide supplemental bags for patients receiving active treatment with chemotherapy. Bags will contain information and goodies for patients starting treatment.
